Event: Trauma Informed Sexual Assault Investigation in the Black Community Training

The IACP, in collaboration with Ujima: The National Center on Violence Against Women in the Black Community, Metro Nashville Police Department, and the Metro Nashville-Davidson Office of Family Safety, will conduct the Trauma Informed Sexual Assault Investigation in the Black Community Training on February 4th & 5th, 2020 in Nashville, TN. The goal of this training event is to enhance law enforcement’s capacity to respond to sexual assault crimes and support survivors of sexual violence in the black community. This training event will address the historical and institutional realities uniquely impacting the black community which affect survivors’ access to justice and offender accountability. Information on these experiences will be presented in sections on the neurobiology of trauma, facts regarding sexual violence, trauma informed interviews, and offender-focused investigative strategies.
